Oddly, although I have no idea what the rules are for using any of this [must we use XFree86? etc.] and can therefore get no use out of any of these, I *can* answer part of this question.
If you download and install audiofile
the package contains audiolib dynamic library, among others. However, you still have to tweak other includes like the imglib stuff.
In fact, I installed Imlib as root and tried with and without first compiling zlib, pnglib, etc. and enlightenment still won't work, libImlib.1.dylib being the sticking point. libImlib.1.dylib(.so) is part of the imglib package [and to add to the confusion, there seems to be an imglib 2 required by the latest enlightenment that is "a totally separate" bundle from imglib.
I wonder if you need to have an X server going, by the way? do you need, e.g., XDarwin running -quartz and then you go to Terminal and type enlightenment and have to hack a DISPLAY variable?
I am assuming that a window manager still needs an x server.
Is XFree86 the only free X server for OS X?
Anyway, even running XFree86 [XDarwin, XonX], enlightenment wouldn't work. I hope there is a walkthrough at some point.
